I wish I could say that it's amazing how ignorant you are of basic polling practices, but sadly I've come to realize that most people share your ignorance. I suggest you either get your money back for the basic statistics course you took all those years ago, or otherwise find the closest university and enroll in their basic polling 101 course. It will take about 10 minutes into the first class for all of you objections and reservations about polling methodology to be refuted.

You need to separate the man from the office. While I very much respect the office of the President of the USA, I have lost what little respect I had for George Bush. The man deserves impeachment for his absolutely immoral behavior in office. He deserves whatever calmumny that comes his way. It is Presidents like this Bush and Nicon who have dishonored the office far more than any of their critics.

BTW, your use of the quote from the Letter to the Hebrews was interesting. That is the cant used by bureaucrats to keep the sheep in line and was obviously written, not by one of the apostles, not even Paul, but by some bureaucratic syncophant who wanted to protect his office, to use your term, from the heretics who expected the clergy to actually behave in a Christ-like manner.

Authority only comes from the consent of the governed, whether in a religious or secular government, When the people holding office no longer have the consent of the governed, that is when the office holders resort to this kind of cant to quell the dissatisfaction of the governed. Power always rests in the people, not in the institutions they create.

Lew,

I was beginning to think you ot lost on your way here! LOL

Yep, there was little whitr GUILT in this election, but I think race was more than a minor factor. The Repiblicans tried pretty damn hard to play the race card I mean, look at that whole hullabaloo about Jeremiah Wtight, That was totally racially motivated. And that crap about his supposed secretl being a Muslim - the turban photo - would never even have come up had he been white.

If he had been white, he probably would not have gotten the level of support he did from the African-American community, but he probably would have done better among white voters, so the end result probably would have been about the same, but by a smaller margin of victory.

I hope that in 2012 people will vot for or against him basedon his tracl record these next four years, and that the next time we have a viable minority candidate for President, the American people will look at what the man stands for and not what color he is. Obama's election may very well have put us on the road to achieve that, especially if he turns out to be a very good President, which I believe he will.

Peace!

And good morning to you too, Lew!

Are you pretending to be someone from the Bush admib or did I make a boo-boo????

You're right that there was little mention of a recession or depression during the campaign, but that is not all that surprising. Politicians all like to use ther little euphemisms. Some day we may get one that will call a spade a spade and not some fancy alternative. I HATE spin doctors LOL!

As far as the economic plan goes, we can only hope. But, if this talk about a bailout for the auto industry is amy indication ofthe Congressional mindset, we may be in trouble. I do have to say that the people Obama picked for his Cabinet to deal with the economy seem to be the kind of people we need to get us back on track. Everything depemds on what attitude and action Congress takes, especially the House. If they deccide to play party politics, nothing much wil get done for at least two years- until the next Congree gets in, assuming we elect the right people.

Peae!

Morning John.

Hey, this is the Bush administration.

We're lucky the " R " word was even mentioned, and I'm sure Bush was having a very upset stomach, as this recession was tied to his administration, if not his policies.

Let's hope that when Obama finally gets into office that this " Economic Plan " they are suppossed to have ready for him to sign immediatley will be able to give the economy the boost it needs.

HI John.

Finally got back to read this post.

Not too sure if there ever was " White Guilt " in the US, but regardless, I do think that race played a minor role in the election...the race to institute a change in direction.

Obama did not get elected just on message alone thou, there was definetly a groundswell of support for him due to his being a young, charismatic and sometimes pragmatic speaker.

Cool, Calm, and Collected during every televisied debate, Obama stayed on message, no matter what McCain was saying during attacks, and he even stayed composed during " Biden Gaffs " ( as the news talk radio pundits like to call them )his message, while not very defined, was none the less inspirational, and moved the American voter to vote for him and his message of change.

I did indeed vote for Obama, I was sold on his message of hope thru change.

No white guilt here.
